It started with the Stratos series and it is now standard for controlled pumps: the Wilo-CAN high-speed interface.

Wilo-CAN corresponds to the industry standard CANopen and is thus an open system. As a real multimaster bus, it ensures spontaneous communication. This guarantees a high dynamic – it’s a standard which has been a million times approved in the automotive sector.

In order to use the high dynamic of the CAN Bus also in an industrial environment without great efforts, the CANopen standard offers a mechanism to realize cyclic and event-driven data transmission.

The CAN interface according to ISO 11898 is used, defining data rates up to 1 Mbit/s.

Based on this, profiles were developed for different device classes which ensure an interoperability and uniform use of devices. The device profile CiA 450 defines the properties of fluid pumps. Wilo pumps with BUS interface CAN correspond already today to the basis of all device profiles, the CiA DS 301. By means of using electronic data sheets (.eds files), a use with customary PLC integration and the use of or CANopen Bus configurators is easily possible.
