LON stands for a communication system which allows both vertical communication between all automation levels and a free network topology with a the two-wire medium TP/FT-10.

With LON, profiles were introduced which guarantee a manufacturer-independent set-up.LON follows the principle of decentralization. It allows a direct link-up connection between different devices without hierarchy in the network. By defining several media types and using a network number, complex applications can even be realized over media boundaries. The logic links between network variables are created with a set-up protocol software tooland are stored in a project-global database. The definition of application profiles ensures a uniform application of products from different manufacturers.

The solutions offered by Wilo are based on the LON function profile 8120 for pumps. Here, the pump object always stands for the pump system in the LON. It doesn’t matter whether an individual pump, a double pump or a multi-pump unit is connected.
