WILO SE: Pump donation for Technisches Hilfswerk
Customised products in disaster relief operation for many years
WILO SE supports the Bundesanstalt Technisches Hilfswerk (THW) [Federal Agency for Technical Relief] in its national and international missions with a donation of seven pumps for water catchment and water supply in disaster areas. Oliver Hermes, Wilo Chairman of the Executive Board, and Gero Böhmer, Wilo Sales Manager for Industry, now handed over systems worth 30,000 Euros to Albrecht Broemme, THW President, and Martin Zeidler, Head of Division Technology of the Federal Service Organisation in Civil Defense, in Bonn. THW already uses specially designed products of the Dortmund pump expert for years. Wilo adjusted these products specifically to the demands of worldwide disaster relief missions which often take place under extreme conditions.
The pump equipment of the German THW distribution centre in Mainz is being completed in view of future missions of the relief organisation. THW is providing for example fresh potable water for at least 30,000 people in Haiti at the moment. Further activities are planned, for instance in Chile where support is given to people affected by the earthquake and flood disaster.
On the occasion of the donation ceremony, Oliver Hermes, Wilo Chairman of the Executive Board emphasised the commitment of the THW and its many voluntary missions also under extreme conditions: "The activities of THW in Germany and abroad are an outstanding example of high technical expertise in line with great humanity and helpfulness. We are pleased to support the "humanitarian ambassadors" of the Federal Republic of Germany and their vital job with our pump technology and are happy that this contributes to cope with disasters and emergencies all around the world."
The electronically operated submersible pump "Wilo-Drain TP mobil" is a mobile system specifically designed by Wilo according to specifications of THW. The disaster relief organisation already uses a large number of these systems. Shortly before the donation, the three pumps were produced as a custom version. Every unit has a maximum delivery head of 10 m and pumps up to 2,000 litres of water per minute. It is firmly mounted on a mobile pipe frame made of stainless steel and can be lowered into the water to be pumped.
The "Wilo-Sub TWU 4" multistage borehole pumps offer a volume flow of up to 5 m³/h. They can be installed either vertically or horizontally and have an integrated non-return valve. The components that come in contact with the fluid are corrosion-free. Download
