Tradition, passion, success: Dortmund is the home of champions. The pump manufacturer from Dortmund has been a Champion Partner of BVB since October 2011. “Like trainer Jürgen Klopp's young team, Wilo embodies efficiency, professionalism, sincerity and ambition,” said Oliver Hermes, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Wilo Group. “It's a perfect pairing, especially because both partners have such deep roots in Dortmund.”

For the second time in just two years, WILO SE can celebrate with its Champion Partner. After the Bundesliga championship victory in the 2010/2011 season, this year Dortmund saw a unique celebration of footballing achievement: for the first time in the club's history, Borussia Dortmund won the double of the championship and victory in the DFB-Pokal. BVB's heroes topped off this high point with a record series of 24 wins in a row and a record total of 81 points by the end of the season, unprecedented in the Bundesliga.

Of course Champion Partner Wilo was among those cheering on the black-and-yellow victory parade for their lads from Dortmund: Wilo's employees expressed their congratulations to the championship winners with a banner on the front of their main building in Dortmund. Wilo's celebrations weren't confined to one place: two mobile backlit billboards drove around Dortmund on the final match day and on the day of the championship celebrations, causing quite a stir. At Borsigplatz, in front of the stadium or the Dortmunder U cultural centre, fans all over the city partied with the “Wilo-Mobiles”.

The active involvement of the Dortmund company forms part of a tradition. For instance, the team's stadium Signal Iduna Park is completely fitted out with Wilo products. As an innovative technology company specialising in the development and production of pumps and pump systems for heating, cooling and air-conditioning, water supply and wastewater treatment and disposal, WILO SE achieved a record turnover of 1,070.5 million euros in 2011.

The Champions Partnership is much more than a passive financial contribution. It also involves activities for promoting young talent, and expert recruitment. The pump specialist is happy to be able to support the long-established Dortmund club and looks forward to celebrating many more major successes together with the team.

A while ago Real Madrid’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t even know Dortmund. Now, after the first leg of the Champions League semi-final tie, he knows and he probably will never forget neither the BVB nor his top- scorer Robert Lewandowski. The stadium was on fire from the first to the last minute while Jürgen Klopp’s men destroyed Real Madrid. This great victory takes the black-yellow ball artist within touching distance of the finals in Wembley.

WILO SE wishes the „Dortmund boys”  another „magical“ semi-final night next week, on Tuesday, 30th April in the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. One thing is for sure: This time, Cristiano Ronaldo will definitely know who Borussia Dortmund is.
