Strict efficiency levels for pumps will come into force in the EU in 2013 and 2015. The ErP (Energy related Products) Ecodesign Directive relates to nearly all energy-consuming and consumption-related products, thus including circulation pumps for heating and air-conditioning systems. The stipulated efficiency levels will be introduced in two stages – from 1 January 2013 and from 1 August 2015. Consequently, the sale of around 80% of models currently available on the market will no longer be permitted. The objective is to reduce energy consumption and the resultant CO2 emissions through environmentally sound product design. The high-efficiency models in the Wilo-Stratos series already meet the particularly stringent requirements of the second stage of the EU regulation, thus also providing planning certainty regarding future projects.
